What are the requirements for installing a fence?

A. Prior to obtaining the Building Permit, you will need to locate your property stakes so the Building Inspector can verify their location.

B. The fence may not be located within the front setback of the dwelling, which means it can not be closer to the street than the dwelling on any street side if on a corner lot.

C. The maximum height of a fence can not exceed 6 feet.

D. The good side of the fence, or the poles and supports if a chain link fence must be on the inside of the fence, so the good side faces the neighbor.

E. Picket fences may be installed in the front yard only after approval of the Planning Commission. Contact the Building Inspector if you want to install a picket fence.
