The public is invited to an open house visioning workshop that will gather ideas and opinions on the downtown and Wolf River corridor environments within the City of New London.  Entitled “On the Banks of the Wolf”, this unique visioning process will assist the City in re-examining the use of its greatest asset, the Wolf River corridor, as it traverses through its downtown.

Wheels on Water Street  & Cheese and Sausage / Fall Family Fest

Please be aware of the planned road closure and detour on September 8th and 9th for Wheels on Water Street  & Cheese and Sausage / Fall Family Fest.  The times on the attachment are estimates based on the Chamber’s need for set up and take down for the events.

Road Closure - Extended
We have been notified that the road closure on Pearl St. in front of the Library/Museum has been extended.  It is expected to be closed until Tuesday, Aug. 29.
Road Closure
North Water St. will be closed in front of Taft Park on Saturday, August, 26, from approximately 9am - noon.  There will be a Veteran's Memorial Dedication.
Restrooms To be Closed at NL Library and Museum
The restrooms at the New London Public Library and Museum will be closed on Friday, August 25th and possibly Saturday, August 26th (UPDATE: Thursday August 24th and Friday August 25th) as the main sanitary sewer line will be replaced outside the building.  During this time the building will remain open, however port a potties will be placed outside for patrons to use.  Please plan accordingly if plan on using the Library/Museum during this time.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Detour Notice
Please note that their will be a detour around the New London Public Library/Museum on Friday August 25 and possibly Saturday August 26th   UPDATE: Thursday August 24th and Friday August 25th for sanitary sewer work.  Click HERE for the official detour route.
Construction Update

Monday July 31st  Waupaca County will be doing maintenance work on the Shawano Street Bridge. The County will be closing the bridge for this work, please use the Pearl Street Bridge while the Shawano Street Bridge is closed.  The bridge should be re-opened Monday afternoon.

Tuesday August 1st  Waupaca County will be doing maintenance work on the Pearl Street Bridge. The County will be closing the bridge for this work, please use the Shawano Street Bridge while the Shawano Street Bridge is closed.  The bridge should be re-opened Tuesday afternoon.

All work is dependent on the weather.

Construction

Today, July 24,  the Waupaca County Highway Department will be doing maintenance on the Canal Bridge on Shawano Street.  The work will be done with partial street closures and flagmen.

July 26th and 27th the County will be doing the maintenance work on the Shawano Street Bridge.  The County will be closing the bridge for this work, please use the Pearl Street Bridge while the Shawano Street Bridge is closed. 

July 31st and August 1st the County will be doing maintenance work on the Pearl Street Bridge.  The County will be closing the bridge for this work, please use the Shawano Street Bridge while the Pearl Street Bridge is closed. 

All work is dependent on weather.

Rising River

Looks like the river is getting up there again. It is predicted to hit 8.6 on Sunday. The City will be putting some sand and sandbags in the North West corner of the sled hill parking lot by the new municipal garage, just if anyone needs sand bags due to the rising river.

 
 
 
 
Please Avoid
Update - 6-12-17
The situation has been corrected.

Due to a sanitary sewer overflow we ask that the public avoid the ditch on the west side of Montgomery Street, next to the Railroad tracks.  The affected area is marked with caution tape.
Road Closure
Update - 6-9-17 - Beacon Ave is now open.

Due to construction reasons Beacon Ave between Fremont St. & Montgomery St is closed.

Beckert Road - Patching
Our patching contractor has notified us that they will be in to  work on two (2) road patches on Beckert Road, between Mill St and Hillshire Drive (closer to Steel King).  The work will begin the end of this week and into early next week.  There will be partial lane closures during this time.

Bridge Maintenance
Waupaca County has notified us that they will being inspecting the Shawano Street Bridge on Monday, May 8. Then on Tuesday, May 9 they will be power washing the Pearl Street Bridge, along with the Rasmussen Canal Bridge near Bucky's Restaurant.  Be prepared for traffic flow interruption.
Old City Garage Doors

The Public Works Department is looking to get rid of the garage doors from the Old City Garage. If you are interested give the DPW Director - Jeff Bodoh a call at 920-982-8503.

East Beacon Ave Improvement

A Public Information Meeting will be held for the East Beacon Avenue Roadway and Utility Improvement project from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2017 at New London City Hall located at 215 N. Shawano Street.  The City of New London is currently planning for roadway and utility improvements of East Beacon Avenue from Mill Street east to the railroad tracks this Spring/Summer. Plans for this work will be on display at the Information Meeting.  City staff and the City consultant will be on hand to answer questions about the project.

North Water Street Patch
The City’s asphalt paving contractor will be doing some patching along north lane on North Water Street between U.S. HWY 45 and C.T.H. ‘S’.  This work will take place on August 17th. The north lane will be closed while this work is taking place.  The south lane will be open and traffic will be directed by flag men.  See attached map.
MCC, Inc. is the prime contractor for the upcoming referenced highway construction project on USH 45 in Waupaca County. As per special provision No. 13 of the contract documents we are providing notification to you of our intent to begin work on the project on Monday, August 22, 2016.

2017 Property Assessment Revaluation

The City of New London will be completing a city-wide revaluation of all property for the 2017 property tax assessment roll. The City has contracted Keystone Appraisal Group, Inc., a Green Bay assessment firm, to complete this project.

NL Aquatics & Fitness Center currently closed for maintnenace
The NL Aquatics & Fitness Center is currently closed for our annual two week maintenance period.  The facility will reopen on Tuesday, May 24th at 9:00 am.

As of 4-18-16, the Emergency Slow-no-wake order on the Wolf and Embarrass Rivers within the corporate limits of the City of New London has been cancelled.

The Cross Country Ski Trails at Hatten Park are groomed and open for use.  Get out and enjoy the great weather!  You can access the trails next to the main shelter house in the middle of the park.  Enjoy!
